Let’s do a thought experiment.
Only YOU exist. There’s no one else. There’s nothing else. There’s no world, no universe, no time, no matter, nothing. There’s no good, no evil—only you, with absolute power. Even impossibility does not exist.
What will you do?
I know what I’ll do.
I’ll first protect my absolute power before I do anything else. How? By creating direction. Think about it. He who controls polarity has the ultimate power. And how would I create that polarity? By creating an heir to my absolute power and enveloping all direction within him. Outside of him, there’ll be no direction.
In other words, I’ll first create a family that shares absolute power, but I’ll be the source of all Power itself. I’ll concurrently create Time and have complete control over it. Even my heir will not have control over Time.
Next, I’ll create a home. Then, I’ll fill that home with servants. Every servant will have specific tasks and powers. None of them can do what I (or my family) can do.
Then, I’ll create a neighbourhood, then worlds and universes. I’ll populate these with different creatures.
At a time of my choosing, I’ll enforce direction/polarity. I’ll divide all my servants and creatures into two distinct groups: those who support me and those who oppose me. Because I created polarity before every living being, I already know who belongs where.
Finally, I’ll rest. I’ll make it a public holiday.
We’ll have some family time. We’ll be just three in the family. You have to keep your inner circle tight. It’ll be just me, my Heir, and my Power. Time is not within this family. He’s just my personal assassin.
As time goes by, I’ll announce my retirement from active duty. My Heir will be taking over. Before he takes over, I’ll kill my personal assassin. I’ll need to do this to protect my Heir and Power.
The opposing side (led by the most beautiful servant I ever created) will obviously challenge my decision. War is declared. I send Time on one final mission.
Let me pause here. Gentle reader, again, I ask, what would you do?
